Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a sugar molecule found naturally in the body, especially in the skin, joints, and connective tissues. Its plays an important role in water retention and tissue hydration.

Due to its moisturizing and water-binding properties, hyaluronic acid is combined with other components to help treat several uro-gynecological conditions:

  • Vulvovaginal atrophy : hyaluronic acid is known for enhancing moisture and elasticity in vaginal tissues;
  • Peyronie’s disease : hyaluronic acid may be used to treat the fibrous plaque that causes penile curvature;
  • Interstitial cystitis : hyaluronic acid is known to help replenish the bladder’s protective layer (GAG layer ) which might be damaged by UTIs or other causes.
